Treecat Dramatherapy; Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology (MCAST) (www.mcast.edu.mt)
Dramatherapist
Malta
I am freelance dramatherapist (http://treecat.mt/) as well as a psychology senior lecturer
(https://www.mcast.edu.mt/) working with students across various educational levels. Dramatherapy
is increasingly being picked up by students during their dissertations identifying the growing need
in research and practice (https://josephtanti.com/).
After working for a few years, I continued my tertiary education obtaining a degree in Psychology
and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from the University of Malta (https://www.um.edu.mt/).
In 2015, I obtained a Master in Arts in Dramatherapy from the University of Roehampton in London.
My clinical experience includes working with young children, adolescents and adults in a variety of
clinical settings namely disability centres, homeless and domestic violence agencies.
In the past few years I have been actively involved in the Creative Arts Therapies Society Malta
(CATSMalta – http://catsmalta.org) primarily as treasurer. Apart from the recent internal
developments, CATSMalta has been working hard on the local profession recognition of the Creative
Arts Therapies with the Psychotherapy Professions Board Malta (PPBM:
http://justiceservices.gov.mt/). In May 2019 all practicing creative arts therapists (namely
dramatherapists, art therapists, art psychotherapists, dance movement psychotherapists and music
therapists to date) have been awarded a psychotherapy warrant. This has been a major achievement
for us dramatherapists in Malta.
